Community Guidelines
Last updated: August 6, 2026
SimplyBlood works because strangers show up for each other. These guidelines keep that trust intact. They sit alongside our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
Core Principles
- Lives first. Every action should make it faster and safer for a patient to get blood.
- No money, ever. Blood is donated, never bought, sold or reimbursed.
- Tell the truth. Accurate patient, hospital and eligibility details save time and lives.
- Protect privacy. Contact details stay inside SimplyBlood and inside the match they belong to.
- Stay safe. Follow medical staff instructions, and never put your own health at risk.
For Donors
Before you accept
- Check that you are medically eligible and past your next-eligible donation date.
- Accept only if you can realistically reach the hospital within the requested window — accepting burns one of your 3 slots per 90 days.
- Read the hospital location and urgency carefully.
After you accept
- Keep your status updated: On the way → Near hospital → Fulfilled.
- Communicate in chat if you are delayed or cannot make it, so the seeker can find someone else.
- Follow all screening and safety instructions from the medical team.
Don’t
- Don’t accept requests you have no intention of fulfilling.
- Don’t ask for money, travel costs, gifts or favours.
- Don’t use a match to make personal, romantic or commercial contact.
For Seekers
Raising a request
- Use real patient, hospital and contact details, and pick the correct blood group and units.
- Mark urgency honestly — false “critical” flags cost real patients their donors.
- Raise one request per requirement; avoid duplicates across accounts.
Coordinating
- Reply quickly once a donor accepts and share clear hospital directions.
- Confirm the donation so the donor’s slot is restored and their tree is planted.
- Close the request as Fulfilled the moment the need is met.
Don’t
- Don’t offer payment or reimbursement to secure a donor.
- Don’t forward a donor’s number to agents, brokers, groups or other families.
- Don’t pressure a donor who has declined or is ineligible.
Contact & Privacy Rules
| Stage | What you can see | What stays hidden |
|---|---|---|
| Browsing nearby donors / requests | First name, blood group, approximate distance | Phone number, email, exact address |
| After a donor accepts (Accepted, On the way, Near hospital) | Phone number and in-app chat for both sides | Anything beyond coordination needs |
| After the request is closed (Fulfilled) | Contact history for reference only | Chat is closed; no further outreach expected |
Chat & Calls
- Use chat and calls for donation coordination only.
- Chat text and captions are encrypted on your device before upload — but please still avoid sharing sensitive medical or financial details.
- Do not record calls, screenshot and republish chats, or share another person’s messages publicly.
- Harassment, abuse, spam or repeated contact after a match closes is a violation.
Stories, Feed & Community
- Celebrate donations, but protect patient privacy — get consent before naming or photographing anyone.
- No medical misinformation, no fundraising appeals, no promotional or political content.
- Flag duplicate, suspicious or fraudulent requests you spot in your area.
For Ambassadors
- Verify: help confirm that requests in your district are genuine and current.
- Flag: report duplicates, brokers, or anyone hinting at payment.
- Support: guide first-time donors and seekers through the process.
- Never collect money in SimplyBlood’s name — no donations, fees or reimbursements of any kind.
- Represent the platform honestly; do not promise outcomes we cannot guarantee.
Reporting & Safety Tools
- Report: paid-blood offers, fake or duplicate requests, harassment, impersonation, contact misuse, unsafe behaviour.
- How: in-app Help → Report on the request, chat or profile, or email support@simplyblood.com.
- Include screenshots, request IDs and timestamps where possible — it speeds up review.
- Reports are confidential; we do not reveal who reported an account.
Consequences
| Behaviour | Typical action |
|---|---|
| Minor first-time issue (inaccurate details, late status updates) | Warning and guidance |
| Repeated no-shows after accepting | Reduced acceptance slots or temporary restriction |
| Harassment, contact misuse, prohibited content | Content removal and temporary suspension |
| Fake requests or impersonation | Suspension pending review, then ban if confirmed |
| Asking for or offering money for blood | Permanent ban, escalation to hospitals or authorities |
